| 12/03/2026 02:18:00 | Ticket Update / Reason for Outage (RFO) Summary During the early hours of the morning, a partial IP announcement outage occurred following the loss of connectivity on a Virgin Media network link. Due to existing redundancy within the data centre, this would not normally result in service disruption; however, certain IP ranges were not correctly announced via the Lumen transit path. Timeline • 01:44 AM – A partial IP announcement outage was detected. • 01:47 AM – First-line support carried out initial checks to confirm the issue. • 01:55 AM – 3rd line network engineers were called to investigate the issue. • Investigation Findings – It was determined that configuration changes applied during the previous maintenance window on Saturday 7th March had resulted in some IP ranges not being correctly announced to Lumen when the London via Virgin path was unavailable. • 02:07 AM – Engineers manually added the affected IP ranges to the Arista network configuration to ensure they were announced correctly. • 02:18 AM – Monitoring confirmed that all IP ranges were being correctly announced directly from the data centre and had remained stable. | 12/03/2026 03:20:00 | Final Update: • 03:12 AM – The Virgin Media link was restored. Virgin confirmed the outage was caused by rodent damage, which required repair work on their infrastructure. Current Status • All IP ranges are now being correctly announced and have remained stable since remediation. • The Virgin connectivity has been restored by the provider. Next Steps Engineers are continuing to investigate why the IP announcements ceased when the Virgin link disconnected. Additional safeguards will be implemented to ensure all IP ranges continue to be announced correctly in the event of any future Virgin fibre outage. Regards NOC Team Blynx AIM Ltd. |
